Dad and Cati

(they are enjoying some gluten free frozen yogurt)

Mike and Cati are both allergic to gluten. So instead of just buying food for her I've had to step it up and take the 25 minute drive where I can shop at Whole Foods. Most the items at this store are gluten free so it's nice to not have to label read everything. But everything is so much more money. But thank goodness that this store takes coupons. Our total was $69 and with coupons the total went down to $32!
We mostly purchased pasta, cereals, and snack foods. Since this has been the hardest stuff to find around our house.

But the reason why Mike is going on the gluten free diet is due to his skin. As a kid he lived off a pastas, breads, etc.....anything with wheat and he would get rashes on his legs so bad that he couldn't walk. He was told that he had really bad eczema but even with lotions he couldn't catch a break. So when he started to see changes with Ducati he thought he would give it a try. And within 3 days his dry skin, blisters, rashes all cleared up.

Mike doesn't have the allergy as bad as Cati. Cati can't touch anything with gluten but Mike he can still use his body wash, deodorants, and cologne. He thinks he only have an ingestion intolerance. So he can't eat anything with gluten. Which makes sense since celiac gets passed down from generation to generation. So right now it's trial and error. While on our movie date he got really sick from eating theater popcorn. After 1 week living gluten free and eating a few handfuls of buttery popcorn her felt so sick that he needed to lay down in the back seat before he threw up.

So right now we're trying new foods like rice with saffron, crockpot Cajun chicken, gluten free meatballs, honey mustard baked chicken. etc. Some have been big hits and some have been big bust. But we'll get better as time goes by. So there's no worries :-)
