Proactive

No not the skin care cream from T.V. (lol) But the way Mike and I are acting lately. We've had an eye opening experience that really made us reflect on ourselves. We realized that we've become slackers. Yes-Mike and I have become autism slackers. We use to attend classes and read anything that contained the words autism, But then things happened.. Babies, job changes, moving, bills, kids, school, etc..... So we stopped educating ourselves.
But that's all behind us. Mike and I have become more active in the learning skills that will help Mason and our entire family ensure that we all become successful. I attended a 6 week class at the Uof U that contained alot of information about behavior management. Mike went to a conference last weekend that was jammed packed with so much information.
But our biggest success step is as a family we've signed up for the Walk Now For Autism. I'm so excited to be apart of this experience. Sure it's just walking....but we'll be walking with hundreds or maybe thousands of people who know personally what we are experiencing. We're all excited for this walk...so go Team T-Rex!

I remember....

I remember..... when he held first $1 Hot Wheels turbo car . Now he's holding a $25 Stealth Rides pocket car.

I remember.... when his favorite movie was Elmo's Adventure. But now we're going to a theater to see the movie "Rango"
I remember...... when he was toddler and he only at waffles and cake.

(Well....he hasn't changed that much)

I remember...... when all Mason wanted for his birthday was to hang out with us. Now he needs more than just his parents.

Well....he still needs us to pay for stuff. And drive him around. And sign waivers so he and his friend can play laser tag.
He's not a little boy anymore. This morning he told me " Mom in 7 years I'm going to drive. And in 9 years I'm leaving for a mission. And today I'm 9 so I'm almost grown up like a man."
Happy Birthday my little man.

M+A=3 years

I  love being married to Mike. And  Mike would say that he feels so lucky to have me as his wife. (Because he is lucky) To celebrate 3 wonderful years we had our traditional gift exchange. And I planned a great evening for just US! (no kids-we love those dates)
But where do 2 love birds go on their anniversary.....WENDOVER
......To see the Boyz II Men Concert!

I absolutely love this group. They play REAL love music. With words that you can understand and lyrics that describe emotions. Music that babies were most likely conceived from. I'm not a fan of today's "love" songs.  But don't get me started on that topic.

I thought Mike would have been familiar with their songs but..... he wasn't. But that just added to how sweet he is--to go to a concert of a group he didn't know.  So I sang to him the whole concert which he thought was cute of me. What can I say....we're too cute together! (haha)
It was an amazing concert!

I think the best part of this whole concert was during the song " I'll make love to you" I was singing the words aloud when Mike stood up, grabbed my hand and started to slow danced with me in front of everyone.  It was a very special moment for me.
Well actually the best part of this day was being with my husband. I love being Mike's wife. I am so blessed to have him in my life. We've said it to eachother so many times that we just fit together. We're a perfect blend of what eacother needs and wants. Being married is just so wonderful!

Lily

Mike and I chose the name "Lily" when we about 8 months along. Everything during my pregnancy was just so calm and peaceful. She was not much of a mover. She loved soft music to be played to her via headphones.. And the meaning of Lily is peaceful and innocent. So when I read that it just seemed to fit.

Fast forward to the present day. She's 2 years old and has the cutest dimples. She has the most adorable voice and giggle that I melt when she says "Mommy". But she also has the biggest attitude that I ever seen in a pint size person. She kicks, bites, and throws what is in reach when a tantrum comes.

But today she did it! She put the cherry on top of her tantrum sundae. While on a field trip to the Utah Capital she had a meltdown. Complete with tears, screams, kicks and going limp. So I did my best to stay calm and talked with her. But she had it so she mooned everyone. Yup! My toddler pulled down her pants to her ankles. By luck her diaper was to her knees but WOW! Everyone just looked in shock. The only response I could think of was "She's making a stand against me."

Survivor

Friday Feb.26 there was a snow storm. Where we live it wasn't snowing that bad. However where Mike works the snow was coming down hard. I usually stay up on Fridays nights to see Mike come home. But this day I didn't want to clean up our front room so I went to bed. At 1:30am I said my bedtime prayers. In my prayers I asked that Heavenly Father would help Mike come home safely.

At 1:45am Mike was driving on I-80 and slide on some black ice and crashed into a bridge supporter wall. Broken windshield. Air bags deployed. The front and back of the car are completely totalled.
But he walked away completely safe. Not one scratch. No bruises. Some sore muscles the next day but it's a real miracle he came out unharmed.

I didn't realized how bad the crash was until I seen our car at the salvage yard. I just held Mike and cried tears of joy that my husband was spared. I am a firm believer that the power of pray works.
Mike jokes that I need to be more detailed in my prayers. Next time I need to pray that both him and our vehicle are delivered safely back home. Always a joker.
