Beach and Italian Ice Cream

Our first stop today was actually Oceanside Beach. In our book it said it was a surfer's dream. So we thought it must of had big waves. So we went to check it out ourselves.This beach sure was quieter than the La Jolla Beach. The waves were huge....a little too big for our little kids. But this beach had big sea shells. So we stood here for about an hour and then went to the Magical Garden.

After our gardening experience we went to Horton Plaza. This is an out door shopping center along 2 street with tons of restaurants and markets. Most restaurants were a little too fancy for our flip flop wearing. But we found this Italian ice cream geliato place.

I think it looks way too modern to be an ice cream parlor. But here we took a snack break. And ordered the most delicious non ice cream we ever tasted.
The kids couldn't tell the difference and I wasn't going to tell them.

(Mason's eyes kept watering the whole time. We thought he had a cold but I think it was allergies. To what? I have no clue. )

We taught Lily the sign language word for "more" Pretty much to tell us when she's still hungry. It works great....maybe too great. She kept signing 'more' to Mike. He couldn't shovel it in her mouth quick enough.

But as we were walking we noticed this common sight every where we went.....homeless people just laying in the middle of the sidewalk. It was crazy to see this on one of the most hottest and most hit tourist spots in San Diego. Poor guys.

But we went back to our camp site early and hung out there and experienced all our camping fun.

Magical Garden

I seen this place on-line Queen Califa's Magical Garden. It looked amazing. Queen Califia is I guess the person which California is named after. But since we're not much of history buffs I forgot the story already. What I do remember is a french artist named Niki (something ?) did all these statues in glass, mirrors, rocks and paints. Piece by piece. It was absolutely awesome to see the detail of her work. Check some pics out....

We went to this magical garden it was around noon and the sun kept reflecting off all the glass. It was so bright!!! Lily had to find some shade for a minute.
I swear Hailey was there but she was mad at us since we woke her up. She's not the most graceful person to wake up from a nap.

If you go visit this place don't go at noon. It said on the website to visit at night but I didn't listen. But it was for sure way cool to see.

Go Padres'!!!!!

We had the choice of using all our vacation money on either Sea World which would of cost us $200 and that's only 1 thing to do or we could use that money to do a lot more stuff. and actually come home with a few bucks left over....so Mike and I decided to use that money for other stuff. And since we're a baseball family we had to go to a Padres game.

It was a lot of fun. San Diego people are such hard core fans. It was so awesome to see so many people in the stadium. And to be at a major league baseball game....No more AAA games for us. Each time the Padres hit a home run fireworks went off, people started dancing in their seat. We all thought that was way cool.

And with the purchase of our tickets we got free hot dogs and a drink. That was cool. To have a real ballpark hot dog with the works. And a couple of guys in our section started to do the wave. The kids had no idea what that was but loved it. These guys got the wave to spread all around the upper level stadium. Way cool guys! (Of course we took part in it)

Here's some pictures of us. But since our bodies were still on Mountain time we were all tired by 7th inning. So we left the game early. Oh well.....see Mason's eyes. He was yawning like crazy.So we got a family photo at our 1st game but surely not our last MLB game. And Mike and I snapped our proof picture. This was a great day #1 of our trip.

La Jolla Beach

On Friday we hit La Jolla Beach. It was so exciting for everyone. The kids and I never been to California. This has been on my bucket list for so long. So to experience the ocean was so amazing.

Next Lunch time. See the cheese cracker smiles. We picnic this entire trip. Hey...it saves money.

Digging ourselves in the sand. I knows it's the classic tourist thing to do.

Making sand castles. Or in Lily's case she took a bite of the sand to see how it tasted.

The sand wasn't the best to make a sand castle in but the kids didn't care.

Palm Trees are everywhere. It was so great! The kids helped me collect sea shells. I had this thought to collect sea shells and sand from every beach we visited. So we ate so much spaghetti the week before and kept the glass jars. Everyone did a great job making our own souvenirs.
