Splash!!!

Mason and Hailey are taking swim lesson at a local pool. They started on Tues. 3/10

They were so excited and nervous to start class. But when we got there it seemed the excitement took over and they just couldn't wait to get into the water. Their lesson was for an hour long and during that whole hour Mike and I were on the edge of our seats.

Mason was just fine. When he stood in the 2'6'' part of the pool he was fine. Hailey on the other hand fell in the water 3 times. Each time I would freak out at the instructors. Mike sat there and let me tell off everyone. He knows to stay out of my way. So after this class we paid the each money for the kids to have private lessons with a different instructor. It's more money...a lot more money but at least we will have the peace of mind that our kids will be kept safe.

Anyways back on track...during their private lesson on Thursday 3/12 they learned to float on their backs. Learned to back and front stroke. They even jumped off the diving board in the deep end. (8ft deep) I was nervous but the instructor was in the water to catch them and help them to the ladder at the edge of the pool. Hailey did great. She didn't second guess herself or even think twice and just jumped! Mason on the other hand was a scared-ee cat. The instructor had to have a life guard get on the board and help talk Mason through it. The lifeguard would count down from 5 to 1 and when he got to 1 he would lightly push Mason to help him jump in and Mason would just hold onto the guy's legs. This happened 3 times. Finally he got enough courage and jumped in after the lifeguard lowered him down into the water towards the instructor. Chicken!

But they love swim class. In about 8 weeks they should being know the basics of it.

On Tuesday after their first lesson Hailey fell asleep in the car. After Mike carried her inside and put her on the couch she didn't move for about 30 minutes. We had to check if she was still alive. After we seen sign of life Mike just put her in her bed and she was out for the night.

PS this counts as part of our resolution for the kids to be exposed to more and to experience more.
