Since Mike and I are such great parents we let Mason play hooky today so we could all go to the zoo. We could make up some excuses like he was sick but honestly we didn't want to take him to school so we went to the zoo instead. Here's Mike and Lily in front of the monkey cages. The kids were so excited they ran around like a bunch of wild animals. I think the monkeys were more tame than Mason and Hailey were. We were only at the zoo for about 20 minutes before everyone started saying "I'm hungry" so we sat at the peacock pavilion (which didn't have any peacocks) and ate lunch. Pb&J's, chips, juice, and baby food. Sound delicious right? We even had enough food to give the birds some Cool Ranch Doritos crumps. After lunch we continued our journey. Angie's favorite animal is the....take a guess....penguin. Did you know that penguins mate for life..they only have one partner their entire life. It's kinda romantic. Mike took the fun fact and brought us penguin jewelry from the gift shop. I got a ring and he got a necklace. So you can say we're penguins for life :-)Lily didn't really care for the zebras as you can see. Then we let each of the kids pick a place on the zoo map they wanted to go. Mason picked the reptile building. Did you know snakes poop? We were looking in the tank of some snake and it started to relieve itself. The snake showed us his long one piece poop and earlier a giraffe pooped in pebbles in front of us also. We took pictures but we'll spare you the details. ha haWhen Hailey picked she lead us to the new zoo carousel. She was so excited!!! Mason ran to get on this lion. He was afraid someone else was going to grab it like dad. But dad got the lady bug seat. I won't post it out of respect of my husband. But each of us took a picture trying to look like this gorilla and out of all of us Mike of course won!! Can you tell which one is my husband?
But after 4 hours of walking around and having fun we hit the gift shop. The kids were allowed to bring some of the hard earned allowance to the zoo just for this occasion. They picked out their own souvenirs and paid for them. Hailey got herself a glitter penguin pen and Mason got himself a crocodile. And Lily....We learned her favorite animal was the elephant. We kinda figured it since she hits her animal book when the elephant page come up. So we naturally got her an elephant and a pink shirt. But see the look she is giving. I (mom) moved the elephant from her face to snap this photo and she gave me her stinkface. Mike and I have talked about her "Stink Face" and no one quite understood how this sweet beautiful little girl could give a look that it would be labeled Stink face. So now here's the proof. And this picture is especially for Angela. When we left our fun filled day we got stuck behind this car at the stop light and we couldn't help but laugh and think of you. The license plate says "MWAHAHA". C'mon now...this was the cherry on our sundae.
