For Mike's birthday I wanted to celebrate it with a BIG BANG! But due to an illness Mike had used all his sick time so I had to rearrange some things. So our long away weekend turned into a night getaway. But it still fun to plan. For this trip I planned a very fun theme
WE WENT COUNTRY!
I layed out Mike's clothes the day of our date but he still had no idea what we were doing. But that all soon changed when my mom showed up. After giving her the quick Gluten Free 101 we headed downtown to catch a movie.... COWBOYS AND ALIENS!
Completely weird- Cowboys and Indians chasing down blood sucking aliens who were stealing their villagers and also their gold. It was a complete man movie but that was fine with us. It was still OK.
Afterwards I made the biggest date faux pas- I went to the grocery store. YIKES! We were right by Whole foods so I begged Mike that we could get the GF pasta that we have been running low on. So Mike agreed as long as he was able to pick up some treats.
After my quick pasta trip we headed to Anniversary Inn.
After checking in we went for some much need dinner at a great BBQ place. All GF so Mike was able to order almost anything on there minus the gravy. Darn gravy and their flour!
Anyways we headed back and ....... WENT TO BED! 9pm I was out like a light. I was the Shrek scene all over again. Where Shrek asks Fiona what she wants to do when the kids went to bed. And then the scene cuts to them asleep on the bed. That was totally us!
Going to bed at 9pm and sleeping in until 9am way amazing. That's funny- we get an expensive suite to sleep! I love it! I love being a mother. I love my kids when they come into my room and need cuddles when they have a nightmare. But I don't love it when they scream in my face that they want cereal. Or when they flip the lights at 5:45 am so I can put on Sesame Street. So this was a much needed getaway. I love my husband especially when we can snore until 9am.

Thankful
I love Thanksgiving! It's the most over looked holiday with the most meaning. Maybe I'm just a sucker for holidays. It gives me an excuse to decorate and bake something without looking weird (like I really care.. :-)
For this Thanksgiving we had my parents come over. Grandma played Santa trying to get the kids wish list.
My dad and Mike watched the Lions act like a bunch of teenagers. C'mon now- kicking someone and saying that you were trying to get your balance. Hailey comes up with better lies than that.
And of course I cooked the best Gluten Free meal EVER! Turkey, buttered potatoes ( rolls for most of us),veggies, pumpkin pie tarts, rice pudding, and a GF cherry pie. And I even made cranberry sauce which later I asked Mike "What do you use this sauce for?" We both didn't know. haha :-) So I made it into jam with one of those mixes. Taste great!
Anyways has anyone ever wondered why our blog is named Thankful 6? There are so many things, people, places that we are thankful for. We actually made a list of 100 things that we are thankful that Heavenly Father has given us. So on our list we named:
temples, priesthood blessings, scriptures, Jesus Christ, atonement, grass, blankets, family, talents, neighbors, ward buildings, milk, food, dolls, clouds, etc. We were able to get to 15 pretty easy but to get over that hump we needed to really count our blessings;even the small ones like milk. :-)
Well for me I am thankful for so many things but my hubby and kids are my list toppers. I am very lucky to have a husband who is imperfect. So due to his imperfections he earns to learn and grow. I am thankful for Mason and Hailey. Since I was pretty young when I had them they have more of youthful personality; which I LOVE! And I am thankful for Lily and Ducati- being told for years that I can't have anymore children due to some blood type disorder. Mike accepted this when we were married. But Heavenly Father had other plans for us- to have 2 more children right after each other. So I am so thankful that Heavenly Father sees more for me than I could even image. So this makes the Thankful 6!

Pirate Lily
Ahoy Mates! Our sweet birthday beauty has been corrupted by PIRATES! In the middle of the night they hoisted their Jolly Roger in our living quarters.
They left our beauty their treasure map, their ship, and a Capt Hat. So Lily changed her name to Captain Pirate Lily. (She named herself ♥)
After she threw over our house with she started to recruit a crew to help her find her treasure chest.
Then it was time to set sail! Capt. Lily found the 1st clue under a bucko's skull.
"To find my treasure ye must be where there is a beach but there is no sea"
Capt. Lily's crew helped her figure out that the sea-less beach was the sand box at the park. So we started our adventure towards the park.
First Mate Daddy ( he's so cute for dressing up as well) with his the little buccaneer.
There she found her 2nd clue
"From here where you travel to is gross to me, it's where ye go when you've got to pee"
POOP DECK! (bathroom)
While at the poop deck her 1st Mate helped her decipher her 3rd clue
"Ruby's and gems are a treasure; yes, and it's with diamonds you'll find what's next"
Baseball Diamond! Captain Lily was trying her hardiest to keep a fierce face but a few giggles and squeals escaped her from time to time.
Capt. Pirate Lily found clue #4....
"If you have a bike you might play here, with lots of rails but only 1 big stair"
This lead us to the bike/ skate park. Almost there we can feel the treasure calling us!
Clue #5....
" Go to where ye would eat then 5 paces northwest, and that's where you will find Lily's Treasure Chest"
Avast Ye....Captain Lily and her crew found ye treasure chest!!!
But this Captain laid claim to all this booty... Birthday Girl Code of Conduct!
But our Captain did grant us a few photos to show note her victory
Yo Ho Ho a pirates life for me ....
Captain Pirate Lily and her crew
After she had took some photos with her 1st Mate she hornswaggled him to carry her booty back to the ship deck.
Where she and her crew digged through her pieces of eight
Then this 3 year old Captain wanted to watch Peter Pan to get a few ideas from the famous Capt. Hook. Soon after our Captain sent the cook an order to bring some food up from the galley. Blow me down-this cook forgot to defrost anything so our 1st Mate weighed anchor and hoisted the mizzen towards the destination with 3 gold arches- McDonald's!
While eating her grub the this Landlubber shipshaped this party by getting the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie to calm this storm. But midway through our movie this Captain had to catch some zzz's.
Ahoy, me hearties our Capt awoke from her slumbers and now it's time for CAKE!
After this voyager came to an end when the seadogs hornswaggled Lily back all their swag. But now I have my beauty back. But this lad did get to keep all the loot and she got a phone call from her old salt grandma to wish her Happy Birthday.
This was such a fun day for our lassie. Savvy?

30 to 30 Finale
Mike's amazing birthday 30 to 30 has come to an end. He's had so much fun opening presents, having surprise dates, and getting some fun pampering. Here's the rest of this 30 to 30
Day 26 a new shirt that Lily picked out.
Day 27 A sitter!
We do weekly dates and this Saturday was his date night. So a friend of ours were open to watch our kiddos. But the fun part of this date was that Mike took ME out for his birthday. We went to go see the new Twilight movie. I love this man!
After this fantastic movie we went to Dollar Tree to find some treats for our girls. But we of course fooled around and had some laughs
Day 28.... two Mind Freak magic kits. Mike loves to do magic tricks!
Day 29 a family activity to Chuck E. Cheese. Mike totally rocked this basketball game!
But while he played this game the kids and I played as many ticketed games. We then gave Mike the tickets so he can splurge on CEC gift boxes. He really likes this part :-)
Day 30...His birthday!
Since we usually let people play hookie for birthdays it was completely different having to wait until Hailey was done with school to start the celebration. But we still had fun....
Mike misses many foods due to his gluten issues. And 1 of those foods is donuts...so he was really wanting some for his b-day. He really loved it when he was given a box for breakfast. As you can see he was excited so well worth the $7 for a box of 6.
While we waited he did some household chores like put plastic on our windows and acted majorly goofy while doing it
Finally Hailey was home. So we ate lunch and headed out for his birthday activity. I was planning a game of touch football but he wanted to go to an indoor bounce house so I can't say No to the birthday boy!
Lily's helping Mike cheat at Hide-N-Seek. She's his look out.
Who does this 30 year old want to hang out with on his big day? KIDS!
After our jumping good time we headed home for naps and Key Lime pie!
But this day wouldn't be the same unless we got some alone time. One of our friends watched our kids for 4 hours...(saintly like people). Anyways we headed for some GF frozen yogurt then went to see the movie "The Rise of the Planet of the Apes"
Great movie, Great man, and Great date! I love birthday season!
Angelica asked me to share some of my thoughts and feelings about my birthday. First off, I think my wife is amazing, were it up to me to pull off a 30 to 30 birthday, it would most likely only last for two, maybe three days before I just gave in and gave all the presents. Beside being totally impressed with my sweethearts organization and planning, I had a lot of fun, it really made me feel special to be so recognized for thirty straight days. Of the thirty days the most memorable for me was the bounce house, the "I love you because" balloon popping, and of course the babysitters, (it is always nice to have Angie all to myself).
The best thing that I received this birthday was nothing material, it was the wonderful memories.
